The PQ's plan - more baloney than pate

Quebec Premier Jacques Parizeau's convoluted plan to persuade the Quebec electorate to accept separation from Canada is heavy-handed and undemocratic. Under the plan, Quebec's populace will not vote directly on separation, but will vote to ratify a National Assembly proposal.

Canada must assert the limits it will go to in satisfying Jacques Perizeau's requests for Quebec's independence. Canada should grant self-determination to Quebec but should not share its dollar with Quebec nor allow its citizens dual citizenship.

Bloc Quebecois leader Lucien Bouchard's public feud with Quebec Premier Jacques Parizeau may be a calculated move to win support for a new version of Quebec secession. Bouchard's proposals are similar to ones put forth by Robert Bourassa in 1984.
