While the Canadian economy appears to be beginning a slow recovery, it is still far from healthy. Lower interest rates have sparked housing construction and economists say interest rates will keep falling as the risk of inflation continues to subside.

The Canadian dollar fell in value, which caused the central bank of Canada to raise interest rates. Prime minister Brian Mulroney does not seem to have an effective economic policy to rejuvenate the economy and reduce the $34.6 billion deficit.
