New York Times columnist James Reston died in Dec 1995, at the age of 86. He started out as a sportswriter and rose to the position of bureau chief during the administration of John F Kennedy. Reston was one of the most respected journalists in Washington DC.

Why are the best men all short, fat and bald?
Article Abstract:
The best and most interesting journalists seem to be short, fat and bald. One of these journalists, Charles Kuralt, left a void in the profession when he died. Another journalist, Matthew Fisher, is one of the few characters on a level with Kuralt.

Hutchison, who was 91 when he died, was a well-known Canadian journalist who influenced the careers of many younger journalists. The way he spoke was very much like the way he wrote.
