Several organisms are becoming antibiotic-resistant giving the World Health Organization their worst nightmare, warning member countries that if alternatives are not found the world may have to go back to the pre-antibiotic era. Help, in the war on antibiotic resistance can be expected from bacteriophages, bacteria-eating viruses but each phage can react to only one type of bacteria but researchers are optimistic about the success of the phage therapy.

Type 1 diabetes is increasing among Australian children and cow's milk based infant formula could be the reason behind this. The findings suggest that it is possible to modify the auto immune response in children genetically at risk for Type 1 diabetes.
