The mutual fund industry has quadrupled in size since 1992 due to factors such as the entry of banks into the mutual fund industry and low interest rates. Continued growth of the industry is expected as the Baby Boom Generation continue to invest for their retirement.

Although Canada's mutual fund industry has grown seven-fold in 6 years, only 26% of Canadians over age 20 own mutual funds. This suggests that many Canadians remain unaware of the potential benefits of mutual fund investing.
