The new environmentalism: Current Situation: Democrats take over
Article Abstract:
Environmentalists celebrated the Democratic takeover of Congress on November 7, 2006, and although there are growing signs of public support for environmental protection, many environmental leaders remain focused on businesses for solutions to environmental problems, like global warming. While environmental groups are reporting increases in membership and financial contributions, there is not much hope for major legislation to work its way through the House and Senate and survive presidential vetoes until 2008.

The new environmentalism: Outlook: Entrepreneurs in spotlight
Article Abstract:
Environmentalists are counting on entrepreneurs to produce a future green world, and to supply the technology that makes the government restrictions work with regard to greenhouse-gas emissions. They are also optimistic about conservation and renewable energy such as solar and wind, as well as the possibility that new technology could make coal, oil, and nuclear energy acceptable, with a new generation of entrepreneurs leading toward an economy that is built on low- or zero carbon-dioxide emissions.
