Canada's debt-plagued economy was portrayed as similar to Mexico's in a Jan 1995 Wall Street Journal editorial, which has prompted some to suggest that Canada's is essentially a third world economy. A tongue-in-cheek analysis suggests that Canada's consumers must get poorer for the analogy to hold.
