There has been a perceptible shift in the balance of power in north-east Asia with China emerging as the power broker in the region and no matter what the US says it's influence over the region is reducing. Australians are looking at China as a lucrative export market and with Beijing helping resolve the nuclear stand-off with North Korea, thus the balance has shifted to China which, means that America's economic stability depends a lot on China's economic survival.

Chinese economy faced financial crisis and to prevent further overheating that could lead to the development of a full-blown financial crisis, the central bank has imposed a credit squeeze. It is stated that due to the appreciation in the exchange rate the impact of the commodities boom on Australia has muted to some extent, as Australian companies are the major beneficiaries of China's expanding capacity for various commodities and minerals.
