Transcontinental's big U.S. adventure

Luc Desjardins, chief executive officer of Montreal-based Transcontinental Inc., announced last week that the printing and publishing firm had signed a ten-year deal to print The New York Times for Southern Ontario and upstate New York. He also stated that this is just the beginning of Transcontinental's expansion plans in the United States, and that if the firm gets a big contract, it may even build or buy a newspaper printing plant in the country.

OSC sheds light on Marchment case
Article Abstract:
Marchment and Mackay Ltd's clients are not expected to gain positive results from their purchase of speculative shares, according to the three- person Ontario Securities Commission panel. The commissioners said that the company put pressure on investors and did not warn them of the risks involved. Penalties against the company, its president, Charles Ornstein, and some salespeople will be determined later from a hearing.
