Trilogy to develop hotel in Vancouver

Trilogy Development Corp. is starting the construction of the 98-room Hotel Opus for C$31 million in Vancouver, Canada. Hotel Opus, which is a "boutique" hotel, is set to be operated by Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group of San Francisco, CA. Construction of the hotel, which is set to feature a 170-seat upscale restaurant, is slated to start by November 1998, with a grand opening scheduled for early spring 2000. Trilogy President John Evans stated that boutique hotels, with its European setting and personalized services, are lucrative operations as they cater both to corporate travellers and leisure market

Nexia's transgenic 'spider goat' to produce milk of steel

Montreal, Que.-based Nexia Biotechnologies Inc. has developed a method for producing very strong artificial spider silk, called BioSteel. Nexia Biotechnologies, which is led by president and chief executive officer Jeffrey Turner, said that spider silk is one of the strongest natural biomaterials.
