TrizecHahn buys four U.S. office towers
Article Abstract:
TrizecHahn Corp. will acquire four office towers in the US for US$275-million. The acquisition is part of the company's plan to invest C$1.2-billion in US properties. According to company spokeswoman Tabb Davis, the C$1.2-billion, which the company gained from the sale of its US shopping mall portfolio, is being spent in the US to avoid capital gains taxes. Besides, buying US properties would fit in the company's strategy of dominating certain US markets. So far, the company has spent only C$355-million of the proceeds.
