Draxis revenue jumps 59%

Draxis Health Inc., a Toronto, Ontario-based company, has reported it lost a total of C$1.3 million, or 4 cents a share, for the quarter that ended Sept. 30, 1998, an improvement of 59% compared to the $2.9 million, or 10 cents per share, it lost in 1997 for the same quarter. The company attributed much of the losses to the costs of launching SpectroDerm, a dermatology product, in the US. Revenues at Draxis Health during the third quarter also improved to C$9.8 million from C$6.2 million a year earlier.

Canadian Medical results shatter estimates

Canadian Medical Laboratories Ltd of Mississauga, Ontario, has posted a profit of C$15.5 million, or 80 cents a share, on revenue of C$89.4 million in the first nine months if 1999. The company had C$8.6 million, or 52 cents a share, on C$57 million in the year-ago period. The company attributed that improved earnings to its acquisition of the assets of bankrupt MedChem Health Care Ltd of Toronto and improved results for its durg research business.
