Unhappy anniversary

Article Abstract:

AMP has not met expectations since it became a publicly listed stock company. The 150-year old AMP has 1.7 mil shareholders and left the insular world of mutuality in 1998. However, it has performed worse than many other stocks. Reasons may include the managerial style of its managing director George Trumbull and an ill-advised takeover of GIO. A more substantial reason may be initial price offerings were too high.
