Video games: Gender gap narrows
Article Abstract:
Experts reveal that the gender gap in video game-playing is narrowing, with women over 18 years representing 30 percent of US gamers, a greater proportion than do boys of 17 years and under, comprising of 23 percent. Females make up a significant proportion of subscribers to virtual worlds and are also showing a rising interest in so-called casual games such as Solitaire, mahjong and some short action games.

Harvard University President Lawrence Summers is of the view that women hold less tenured faculty positions in science and engineering field as compared to men due to biological inferiority in them. The belief led to a mixed reaction amongst the people with female scientists opposing him and the supporters believing that he raised a legitimate question for scientific inquiry.

Harvard pledges $50 million to aid women
Article Abstract:
President of Harvard University Lawrence Summers announced on May 16, 2005 that Harvard was committed to spend $50 million for recruiting women faculty and improving the campus environment for women. The science task force women faculty also made several recommendations, including gender-bias training or graduate students who teach science to undergraduates.
