'We have to be relevant to the kids'
Article Abstract:
Park Service officials of the National Parks are worried that the national treasures they manage are losing their allure to new generations of Americans, and they need to make efforts to be more relevant to the kids. Parks must adapt to the changing interests and expectations of modern park visitors, in addition to preserving natural experiences, such as the Canyon visitor center at the Yellowstone National Park that features state-of-the-art educational displays depicting the volcanic geology beneath the park.

Promoting the parks
Article Abstract:
The US federal government has tried to balance promoting recreation with preserving the park's natural resources. Congress has established the National Park Service in 1916, increased national park acreage dramatically, expanded Park Service, switching from managing wildlife to natural regulation of ecosystems, built 2,000 miles of roads, constructed 114 visitor centers, and has plans to develop a ten-year Centennial Challenge program to improve the system by the agency's hundredth anniversary in 2016.

Article Abstract:
