Will Bay Networks chief share?

Bay Networks Corp.'s President and CEO David House appears able to team up with John Roth, the top executive of Northern Telecom Ltd., the firm that will buy the Santa Clara, CA-based operations for $9.1 billion. Roth, who is set to be CEO of the combined firm, cited many similarities between him and House who is will be president. Both 55-year old engineers have the same management styled and vision of the industry plus have the same passion for sports cars. House held various management positions at giant Intel Corp. and joined Bay Networks in November 1996 in the midst of competition and falling employee morale, sales and market share.

ATI in talks to acquire U.S. firm

Markham, Ontario-based ATI Technologies Inc. plans to purchase Sunnyvale, CA-based Chromatic Research Inc. in an effort to place itself in a favorable position in the market for online appliances, such as set-top boxes. The acquisition of Chromatic Research by ATI Technologies will enable ATI Technologies to avail of Chromatic Research's multimedia-microprocessor technology, which has applications in digital televisions or set-top boxes. Chromatic Research's multimedia microprocessor will enable users to utilize one cable link in simultaneously making online telephone calls, surfing the Internet and watching television.

Epic CEO resigns after disappointing quarter
Article Abstract:
Epic Data International Inc president and CEO John Anderson has left the Richmond, British Columbia-based software company after failing to secure a major contract. The self-advertised turnaround artist will leave the company as soon as a replacement is found and appointed. Anderson's management style apparently is partly to blame for the company's failure to win a contract as experienced people who were turned off by Anderson's style have left the company.
