Wrigley serves up Williams sisters
Article Abstract:
Wm Wrigley Jr Co has entered an endorsement deal with Venus and Serena Williams. The tennis stars will appear in national ads for the USA's leading chewing gum marketer in summer 2001 from agency BBDO Chicago. The 3-year contract is worth $7 million to $10 million. Wrigley has never used an athlete endorser in the 87-yea history of the Doublemint brand. However, the Williams sisters, winners of all four Grand Slam titles in women's doubles and the WTA Tour's 2000 Doubles Team of the Year, fit nicely with Doublemint's longtime 'doubles' ad theme.
