Changing the countenance of pharmacology courses in medical schools
Article Abstract:
Pharmacology courses in medical schools have not effectively provided its students with ample training in the use of numerous drugs and ample knowledge on the different molecular mechanisms of drug. This problem led to the formulation of a pharmacology program which is based on 25 years of teaching experience. The program which is divided in 11 units is intended for sophomore medical students. It focuses mainly on the molecular basis for drug action for different classes of receptors and other sites of drug action. The program uses computer simulations as part of the teaching method.

Pharmacology education in the USA: the role of graduate programs
Article Abstract:
Universities in the US offer graduate programs in pharmacology that were created with the support of the National Institutes of Health. These graduate programs include seminars, journal clubs and research training projects to supplement the lecture courses in pharmacology. Second year graduate students are made to take a comprehensive exam before entering into further research, and most programs are offered in medical schools.
