Combinatorial Chemistry Coming to Cosmetics
Article Abstract:
Combinatorial chemistry techniques used in the pharmaceutical industry since 1992 are now being used to develop cosmetics. Chemists can now synthesize thousands of molecules instead of one at a time. Researchers in Norway are using the technique to develop zeolites. Clairol is using it in the development of hair colors. The technique is also being used to develop new industrial chemicals, polymers, pigments and catalysts.
