The first tissue engineering product on the German market will be launched by Bio-Care Biotechnologie fur die Therapie GmbH. The Leipzig-based company developed the technology for the sealing of chronic ulcers in cooperation with the university clinic of Bern. EpiGraft is cultivated out of hair root cells.

Germany: BioTissue sole owner of Trans-Tissue
Article Abstract:
Freiburg-based BioTissue Technologies AG has taken over another 37.6% stake in Trans-Tissue Technologies GmbH. With this DM 4.2mn acquisition, BioTissue is the sole owner of the Berlin-based company. Trans-Tissue Technologies, the hived-off unit of Charite (the faculty of medicine of Berlin-based Humbold University), is active in developing tissue replacements of the 2nd generation which are produced naturally in the body.
