SWITZERLAND: STERITEC BOUGHT BY SULZER INFRATEC

Sulzer Infratec is strengthening its knowhow in plant engineering and maintenance in the field of sterile pharmaceutical production by taking over Swiss Oberwil-based Steritec AG and German Stadtallendorf-based Steritec GmbH in a deal backdated to the beginning of year 2000. In 1999 Steritec generated a turnover of about SFr 5mn.

GERMANY: VINTRON INVESTING IN VINYL CHLORIDE
Article Abstract:
A 330,000-tpy vinyl chloride production plant is to be built by Krupp Uhde GmbH by October 2001 for Vintron GmbH in Knapsack. The subsidiary of Vinnolit is investing about DM 200mn in the project, which includes the expansion of the existing chlor-alkali plant.

South Africa/Germany: Lurgi, Sasol team up
Article Abstract:
Sasol of South Africa and Lurgi AG of Germany have agreed to set up a joint venture using the two companies' know-how in the field of gasification of coal and similar materials for the production of synthetic gases and other products. The South African company is said to be the largest operator of gasification plants.
