Switzerland: Atisholz withdraws from Kogler sawmill
Article Abstract:
Atisholz chief executive Christoph Blocher has said that the Swiss group will not participate in the sawmill project planned by Austrian Andreas Kogler in Switzerland. Kogler planned to invest SFr 120mn in a sawmill in Luterbach, using a 25 to 30 hectare site of Atisholz. The sawmill was to employ 200 staff and process 1mn cu.m of timber per year, which is about 20% of Switzerland's overall fellings.

Ticona is doubling its production capacity for ultra-high molecular polyethylene (PE-UHMW) for North America by building a new production facility in Bishop, Texas. The EUR 50mn plant will become operational in the 3rd quarter of 2002.

MEXICO: BASF UPS STYROLUX PRODUCTION

BASF AG of Germany is building a new world-scale production facility for Styrolux SBS in Altamira, Mexico, within a EUR 75mn investment programme. The plant will go on stream in 2003 with an initial capacity of 45,000 tpy.
