Balancing technological innovation and environmental regulation: An analysis of Chinese agricultural biotechnology governance
Article Abstract:
A study to explore the paradoxes facing the Chinese state as it governs Gomes, a new technology that has proven problematic for political decision-making processes in many settings is illustrated. China faces an unusual situation in relation to Gomes that is that China has a first-world capacity in relation to biotechnology research and technology development and at the same time it remains a developing country with a larger smallholder sector and many people living in rural areas.
