The historic meeting of US Sec of State Madeline Albright and Chairman Kim Jong Il presents a fine opportunity for North Korea to show that it is serious about the peaceful nature of its ballistic missile program, and its willingness to stop exporting missile technology to Pakistan, Iran, and Syria.

Preserving the North Korean threat

International disapproval of the Bush Administration rejection of a ballistic missile control compromise with North Korea is entirely justified. Bush seems to be perpetuating the North Korean threat to justify the need for national missile defense.
