Coarse correction - and way off target

Article Abstract:

Martin Gaynor, William B. Vogt and Mark V. Pauly misread the Evans article in seeing in it a criticism of the use of economic analysis for health care. Its debate of the role of the government and the market is solidly based in traditional economic ideas. That people's motivation is their perception of their interests is a basic economic hypothesis, and people pursue their interests in various ways. That people are motivated by rational self interest is consistent with traditional economics.
