A program for democratic reform
Article Abstract:
Political reform has become an extremely significant issue in China as the 21st century approaches. It is now clear that China cannot become a truly modern country unless it moves towards democracy. The Chinese government should allow individual freedom to organize political and non-political associations to protect the public interest or the interests of specific groups. Efforts should also be made to modernize the relationship between political parties and the government.

The case for Chinese federalism
Article Abstract:
A mix of federalism and confederalism appears to be a good solution for the future of China, given the existing situation. The government of China has maintained its support for central control but, in reality, central government has always struggled to control the geographically distant regions, and all regions have become more powerful in the move towards economic freedom. The confederal aspect addresses issues concerning Taiwan, Hong Kong and other peripheral regions.
