EU enlargement and sustainable rural development in central and Eastern Europe
Article Abstract:
An introspection directed at principles of sustainable rural development and their application to ongoing process of accession in the European Union is presented. Their political, socio-economic, and ecological challenges are addressed by non-governmental organizations throughout the region.

Resources, opportunities and local environmental action in the democratic transition and early consolidation periods in the Czech Republic
Article Abstract:
A research is conducted to examine the factors that affected the responses of Czech communities to the proposed landfills, incinerators, highways and protected area development between 1992 and 1996. A structured interview was conducted with the mayors of 237 communities in this regard.
