Article Abstract:
African Americans spend a substantial amount of their money on hotels each year, yet a survey revealed that these lodging industries do not employ African Americans for high-level service jobs. This observation prompted the Economic Reciprocity Initiative which aims to invoke Black consumer awareness of the existing lack of reciprocity. It also aims to demand equal opportunities for African Americans to hold high positions in the lodging industry. The movement is the first in a series of planned actions all geared towards equity for all Blacks in all industries.
