General election to the German Bundestag on 16 october 1994: green pragmatists in conservative embrace or a new era for German parliamentary democracy?
Article Abstract:
The Green Party by taking 49 seats in the general election to the German Bundestag in 1994, re-emerged from political oblivion. The party's priorities include leaving NATO, curbing the powers of European Union, promoting improved environmental conditions and making efforts towards a better gender balance. Xenophobia was not an issue and the post-Stalinist Socialist Unity Party performed better. Kohl's Christian Democratic Union anyhow managed to stay in power with 294 seats, and their main task is to stay in power. Kohl has made many offers to the Greens.

The 1994 elections in Sweden: green or grey?
Article Abstract:
The performance of Swedish Green Party with 5% votes in the 1994 elections created history surprising the analysts. The exit poll show that the Greens benefited due to its perceived leanings to the left. It also gained votes on account of people mistrusting politicians as well as from the support of young first-time voters. The party should be careful of its left-right inclinations and highlight issues other than environment to win votes otherwise grey might be a better option for the voters. The bridge issue between Sweden and Denmark was a major issue.
