Individual Values, Organizational Structure, and the Problem of Performance: Thailand as a Case Study
Article Abstract:
Explaining organizational performance can be viewed from two approaches: that the properties and structure of the organization determines performance or that the individuals in organizations do. The author feels the first hypothesis can be confirmed. The testing of these beliefs took place in Thailand. Performance tests were administered and measured. Organizational characteristics and performance were elaborated using the results of testing. The characteristics of bureaucrats and organizational performance were also measured. Personalities have little power over organizational performance. Further findings and definitions of variables are included in an appendix.

Are there limits to financing culture through the market? Evidence from the U.S. musuem field
Article Abstract:
American museums have taken up the commercializing strategy by operating retail activities through museum stores, mail-order catalogues, and web-based virtual shops. Unfortunately there is little scrutiny to examine the viability of this commercializing strategy. An article examining the United States tax and census data to chart the development of museum merchandising revenue from the 1980s to the 1990s is presented.
