US and China take on global warming
Article Abstract:
The US and China are the key countries in the global fight against global warming. The two countries produce the highest levels of greenhouse gases, necessitating greater cooperation in developing ways to improve energy efficiency and increase the use of cleaner sources of energy. The creation of the China-US Forum on Environment and Development is testament to the countries' commitment to the principles of environmentally sustainable economic development.

The case against Kyoto
Article Abstract:
The Kyoto Protocol is expected to affect the global economy, deny developing countries access to energy resources and undermine national sovereignty. The treaty, agreed upon in Dec 1997, requires the US to reduce its energy emissions to 7% below 1990 levels between 2008 and 2012. However, it also lays the groundwork for a world with less energy which would, in turn, lead to reduced worldwide economic growth.
