Intervention in Bosnia - the case against
Article Abstract:
Full-scale military intervention or a continuation of current peripheral action are the only two realistic alternatives for international help in Bosnia. A full-scale military operation to separate warring factions in Bosnia would require approximately 500,000 troops. A force of this size is simply unavailable from the US, UK and France, who are the only likely contributors. Full-scale military intervention is not feasible. UN negotiations should continue and UN sanctions should be scrupulously enforced. UN observers should also be deployed to Macedonia to observe any incursions there.

No time to walk away
Article Abstract:
The political situation in Bosnia is problematic for the European Union (EU), but it cannot neglect the independent state for the creation of which it was responsible. The EU has accepted control of peacekeeping from NATO, is planned to acquire the Office of the High Representative and has also launched proceedings to make Bosnia a member of the EU, and hence, cannot go away from the situation which might excite a war again without the involvement and control of the EU.
