Latin America's diversity of views
Article Abstract:
This article presents the views of Latin Americans towards democracy, which seem to vary between countries and also between left and right within countries. Their historical experiences of the performance of their political leaders in bringing about social and economic changes are seen to determine their attitudes toward democracy rather than ideology or demographic characteristics.

Between stability and crisis in Latin America
Article Abstract:
An overview is presented on public opinion of democracy in Latin America. While citizen support for democratic government has been stable, it is still higher than citizen satisfaction with how democratic government performs, indicating low institutional and interpersonal trust.

A road with no return?

This article examines public opinion regarding the staying power of democracy in Latin America. The author maintains many Latin Americans have an incorrect perception of democracy, arguing Latin America has many years to go before it can become a true democratic society.
