Taiwan's year of stress
Article Abstract:
Taiwan's politics has faced constant turmoil due to the disputed presidential elections and the badly divided parliament. However the turmoil was eased over time and also left some positive effects on the democratic Taiwan with the help of some exceptionally good visionaries, innovative political leadership, and some attitude changes of the ordinary citizens of the country.

Halting progress in Korea and Taiwan
Article Abstract:
The authors posit that the middling support levels for democracy among citizens in Taiwan and South Korea may hinder full democratization in those countries. Research indicates that citizens are still forming opinions on the worth of democracy, such as its capabilities of economic and political performance.

Is democracy the only game in town?
Article Abstract:
The East Asia Barometer survey project studied six democracies and found out how many preferred democracy to its alternatives. An attempt was made to find out whether the citizens yearn for a different government system other than democracy, which could serve their values and beliefs more appropriately.
