Mouse cloning begins bio-industrial era
Article Abstract:
Jeremy Rifkin, author of 'The Biotech Century: Harnessing the Gene and Remaking the World,' asserts that genetic engineering ushers in a bio-industrial era in which genes and cells are harnessed for mass production. He cites the successful cloning of a mouse as an enormous opportunity for life sciences companies to mass produce cloned animals for a broad range of commercial applications. Rifkin, though, warns of political and moral issues that could arise from cloning.
