Article Abstract:
The NATO alliance is joined by Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic in the summit at Madrid entitled the 'Madrid Declaration on Euro-Atlantic Treaty Security and Cooperation' in Jul 8-9, 1997. Members of the alliance disputed over the inclusion of countries such as Slovenia and Romania into NATO and the costs of such inclusion. Russia, however, resents the move by NATO. Fears are emerging in Russia's increased reliance on nuclear weapons for security in the future.
