Productivity of public school districts: the employment relations model
Article Abstract:
Effective employment relations is shown to promote high levels of productivity among school districts. The employment relations model is used to introduce a new approach to examining the determinants of public school district productivity. The model presumes that the district's employment relations system, comprised of the policies, practices and actions underlying relations between a district and its teachers, strongly affects the productivity of a school district.

Managing older professionals in public agencies in Quebec
Article Abstract:
The potential impacts of the physical decline with aging among older workers are assuaged by added experience and maturity. Older workers are more committed to the organization, function better and are more satisfied with their jobs, while expecting supportive supervisory relations, meaningful jobs and employment security. Understanding the need of employees over age 50 can be improved by analyzing what they perceive as their own work needs and values.

Improving productivity at a materials recovery facility: lessons from a case study
Article Abstract:
A case study of the waste recycling method carried out in Monroe County, IN, has been undertaken to find out ways of improving productivity. It has been found out that flexibility is one significant characteristic that determines the success of productivity improvement and cost reduction in a typical waste materials recovery facility. Results suggest that policy formulation and enforcement should be closely linked to ensure successful outcomes.
