Risky business
Article Abstract:
A simple business approach to tackle the risks associated with instability and disincentive for the substantial investment are discussed. Business is already debating the complexity of companies and to succeed, firms need legitimacy that can be earned by proving to the local partners that they have inclusive, transparent and accountable policies.

The Afghanistan poll in October 2004 will be the most far-reaching exercise of popular choice in country's history. The vote, three years after the Taliban is driven from power and just over three weeks before the American presidential election, will be followed next spring by polls to elect a new parliament.

Although the battle to restore peace and democracy is far from over, with Iraq in the limelight, Afghanistan might be forgotten. Afghanistan may still be less secure than Iraq while eleven thousand foreign troops fight to restore its dignity.
