The Asian model is not dead, but evolving toward globalization
Article Abstract:
The economic crises Asian countries from Thailand to South Korea are experiencing signals the transformation of the Asian economic model into a more globalized model which is contrary to claims that the region is in its death throes. There are three steps that should be done to restore the Asian economy to its former footing. First, Congress should overcome its shortsightedness. Second, Asia should open up its markets to the outside world. Third, Japan and South Korea should create an entity similar to the Resolution Trust Corp to bail out their banks when they collapse.
