Freedom favors development
Article Abstract:
It has often been pointed out that relatively authoritarian states such as Singapore and South Korea attain economic progress much faster than freer countries such as India and Costa Rica. However, a closer examination shows other factors that contribute to economic progress, such as literacy rate, international markets, open competition and land reform. On the other hand, statistical studies show that freedom impacts positively on development. A strong connection, for example, has been established between famine prevention and elected administrations.
