The EEC and free trade agreements: stretching the limits of GATT exceptions to non-discriminatory trade?
Article Abstract:
The EC has established a free trade agreement with European Free Trade Area countries, and is working on similar agreements with other countries, by making a liberal interpretation of GATT provisions governing these agreements. This results in these countries getting better treatment than would a contracting party to GATT. This practice is likely to continue because there has been little questioning of it by other GATT signatories.

The European Community reaction to the "illicit" commercial trade practices of other countries
Article Abstract:
EC regulation 2641/84 was enacted to protect commerce by EC countries and to react as swiftly as those with whom it trades. The regulation has been only partly effective due to wording that aims it specifically at countries rather than corporate entities. Other aspects in which the EC is not well served by this law involve proof of injury and determination of what constitutes a product.
