The article discusses the multiple policy objectives that compel governments to promote biofuels and how World Trade Organization (WTO) rules apply to these fuels. It stresses the need for countries to lift restrictions on in the ongoing biofuel trdae Doha Round and to refrain from sheltering biofuels and their feedstock through existing flexibilities.
