The effect of race and sex on welfare benefits
Article Abstract:
Barr and Hall's work of estimating the Aid to Families with Dependent Children program's implicit tax rate was extended to evaluate how group-specific characteristics affect welfare grant allocations. The development of a general welfare benefits model was followed by a proposed general welfare benefits model. Results showed statistically significant disparities in welfare allocation, using personal characteristics such as race and sex as basis.

Welfare gains from innovation-induced rent seeking
Article Abstract:
Rent seeking is the key to opening up new markets. Reduced rent seeking costs can promote deregulation, resulting in the increase of goods utilizing technological innovations which can increase welfare benefits. An example of this theory is the air pollution control systems which could acquire better equipment through the deregulation of laws which force them to keep obsolete, pollution-heavy equipment.

Property rights and rent seeking in South Africa
Article Abstract:
The long history of racial strife in South Africa may be traced to property rights protection. During the early 20th century, numerous laws were passed which reflected the racial biases of those in power. State legislation required the transfer of all control of the land to the whites, which eventually led to the economic problems facing South Africa today.
