Trade and human rights: the case of China
Article Abstract:
Linking trade sanctions to advance the cause of human rights and democracy in China will be counterproductive and lead to the retardation of both. Economic sanctions on China would politicize trade, harm innocent people and strengthen the CCP. Thus, pursuing trade liberalization and creating a market-liberal order will promote human rights and political liberalization. Continued economic liberalization will raise business standards further and create a legal infrastructure that will promote competition and openness first in the nonstate sector, and then throughout China.

The limits of economic forecasting
Article Abstract:
Donald McCloskey believes that the art of forecasting and the criticism of such practices are ancient, and has compared modern economic forecasting to ancient divination. Economists cannot rely on the forecasts of variables such as asset prices. Economic forecasts cater to a demand for magic, explain the functioning of the economy and facilitate conditional forecasts which can be used with prudence by the government and the private sector.

Money, macroeconomics, and forecasting
Article Abstract:
Macroeconomic forecasting has a poor performance record and should be considered an art rather than a science. Proposed improvements in monetary rules include a price-level rule, a money-growth rule and a nominal gross national product rule. A forecast-free monetary system with no central monetary authority would improve stability.
