CD ends disappointing session; CTB settlement left for next year
Article Abstract:
The 1995 Conference on Disarmament (CD) was unable to reach an agreement on the comprehensive test ban treaty (CBT). CD used the 1994 agenda as it did not approve a formal agenda for the 1995 meeting. The decision to review other committies on nuclear disarmament and expand the membership of CD were also unresolved. Although the US, the UK and France agreed to a zero-yield test ban in the third round, Russia and China did not. CD members criticized nuclear testing by China and France in 1995.

U.S., N. Korea reach agreement on suspect site inspection
Article Abstract:
US officials are concerned that North Korea's hugh underground facility northwest of Yongbyon could be related to Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program. Pyongyang has finally agreed to allow US inspections of the facility in May, followed by further visits to allay US concerns about the future use of the site. The US in turn will aim to improve political and economic relations between the two countries, with the initiation of a bilateral pilot agricultural project.
