Japan's plutonium problem - and Europe's
Article Abstract:
The nuclear arms reductions currently being undertaken by the US and Russia has resulted in an excessive supply of plutonium in the world market. However, besides being dangerouus, plutonium has little value as fuel. Japan, along with several Western European countries, have plans to acquire large amounts of plutonium for use in nuclear power plants. These plans entail serious concerns in terms of the environment, security and nuclear non-proliferation.
