White paper: freedom of religious belief in China
Article Abstract:
The present conditions of religion and diversity in China were discussed in the information office of the state council of the People's Republic of China in Beijing on October 1997. The legal protection, judicial and administrative guarantees and supervision of the freedom of religious beliefs are discussed.

China government's law on religious practices restricts government-sanctioned organizations and registered places for worship and religion practicing. But the law is poor, especially for many unregistered religious groups and spiritual movements such as Falun Gong.
