Will the UN survive into the next century?

The need for an international organization such as the UN has not been undermined by recent global developments. Such an organization protects its members against anarchy, economic distress and insecurity. However, the world community must be ready for a give-and-take relationship with the UN.

The Colossus with the Achilles heel

Observations regarding the significance of the September 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States are presented. The comment is made that the country is a powerful Colossus, yet with an intrinsic weakness which makes it vulnerable to pressures other than traditional weapons of warfare.
