A broader phenotype of autism: the clinical spectrum in twins
Article Abstract:
Language abnormalities and social deficits are greater in adult non-autistic cotwins of monozygotic twin pairs than those of dizygotic twin pairs, indicating that phenotypic expression extends more broadly than autism. Despite normal non-verbal intelligence, monozygotic cotwins lack confiding relationships and have employment difficulties. The dizygotic cotwins live independently and are in full time employment. The variation between the monozygotic and dizygotic twin pairs indicates that it fails to index genetic heterogeneity.

Parental divorce and adjustment in adulthood: findings from a community sample
Article Abstract:
Parental divorce is linked with a wide range of current adjustment indicators in adulthood and with an enhanced tendency to have followed a maladaptive life course pattern, according to research designed to assess the long-term impact of parental divorce and death on depressive symptomatology and family and marital behaviour in adulthood. The long-term effects of parental divorce on maladjustment in adulthood are mainly determined by a combination of affective family climate and life course patterns following parental divorce.

Twins as a natural experiment to study the causes of mild language delay: I: Design; twin-singleton differences in language, and obstetric risks
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that the tendency for language development delay in twins, as compared to singleton children, is not associated with perinatal/obstetric features such as birth weight disparities, gestation length, or congenital anomalies. Further studies are needed to determine the cause of language development delay in twins.
