A longitudinal study of maternal labour force participation and child academic achievement
Article Abstract:
The results of an 18-year longitudinal study of the links between maternal labour force participation and academic achievement in a birth cohort of New Zealand children are examined. The results indicate the presence of small links between the extent of maternal labour force participation and scores on standardized tests of work recognition, mathematical reasoning and reading comprehension. Patterns of maternal labour force participation were also linked to a range of family and child factors.

The significance of self-reported anxious symptoms in first grade children: prediction to anxious symptoms and adaptive functioning in fifth grade
Article Abstract:
A study of five-to-six-year-old children revealed their self-assessment reports of anxiety symptoms to be accurate predictors of recurrence of anxious symptoms and adaptive functioning in their late elementary school years. Logistic regression analysis provided insight on the strong correlations between anxiety levels for first and fifth grade children.
